CRAIG MERNITZ
Seniors Real Estate Specialist
Accredited Buyers Representative
Certified Residential Specialist
Certified Distressed Property Expert

As an accredited seniors real estate specialist and a licensed family advocate serving Maricopa County for 20 years, Craig Mernitz provides real estate services and related counseling and support for the fiduciary, estate management and elder care industries. He has an extensive background partnering with attorneys specializing in estate planning, probate, wills, trusts, special needs and other elder law issues as well as licensed fiduciaries and administrators who provide estate management services to ensure the safety and well-being of the elderly.

Craig also has wide-ranging experience working with families and adult children of aging parents who can no longer live safely and independently in their own homes. In addition, he provides beneficial assistance to Baby Boomers in planning for their own futures before their families are forced to make critical decisions for them as they age. Craig’s specialized knowledge has been invaluable in finding solutions to help seniors either remain in their homes or sell their homes and transition to a safer and healthier environment such as assisted living facilities, adult care and private homes, and life-continuing care communities.

During such an emotional time when families are faced with selling the family home and making lifealtering decisions for someone else, Craig provides counseling and education to help them make the right choices on behalf of their loved ones. His professional guidance has also enabled families to deal with health as well as social and financial issues through his extensive community partnerships and other trustworthy resources in the Valley.

Craig’s ability also comes from personal experience helping his parents, Dick and Dorothy Mernitz, to relocate from Missouri to an independent living community in metro Phoenix. Seeking access to quality health services, more socialization and interaction with family members living in the Valley and the end of costly home maintenance, they worked with Craig to review and revise their senior goals. Recognizing the physical and emotional challenges such a move would cause them, Craig took a step-by-step approach to ensure the move was smooth and that his parents were comfortable in their new lifestyle which they enjoyed for many years.

Craig takes the same approach with clients to streamline the process of selling the family home and addressing other needs and concerns that come with a major life decision. Craig will develop a strategic plan for families, estates, trusts, guardianships and conservatorships with input from his community partners who will assist in the transition. Whether they remain in the home, sell or rent the home or leave the property vacant, seniors and their families are offered a variety of choices that are in their best interests.

Craig is affiliated with such community and state organizations as the Area Agency on Aging, the Maricopa County Public Fiduciary’s Office, Maricopa Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance, Alzheimer’s Association Support Group, Arizona Fiduciaries Association and the Assisted Living Task Force among many others.
